The 5e Lieu

Open to all, the 5e Lieu is a resource centre that defines itself as a starting point for discovering the city, its history, treasures and cultural facilities thanks to a full range of options on offer: exhibitions, cultural and educational activities and events, information and advice, ticketing for shows and cultural items for sale. The 5e Lieu is designed to be a place where everyone is welcome.

Lieu d'Europe

The Lieu d’Europe is a cultural and educational centre whose mission is to promote Europe in all of its dimensions: historical, institutional and cultural. The activities aim to strengthen the visitor’s sense of belonging to a community of values and to encourage the emergence of European citizenship. Its permanent exhibition showcases the significant role that Strasbourg has historically played in the construction of Europe.

Media libraries

The network of media libraries in Strasbourg, open to the public year-round, features collections of over one million documents, including books, comic books, DVDs and CDs, in all fields.

You’ll find workspaces and areas for relaxation offering a wide range of services: computers, online resources, free internet and Wi-Fi access, video games and boardgames, printers and photocopiers. You’ll only need a membership if you want to borrow something. The “Pass’relle” card allows you to borrow items from any of the 33 media libraries in the network.

Many free, open-access cultural events and activities are planned throughout the year, including concerts, screenings, exhibitions, conferences, encounters and shows.

Most of the media libraries can accommodate people with disabilities.

National and University Library - BNU

The National and University Library (BNU) has more than 3,700,000 volumes, in the humanities, social sciences, law, art and French and foreign literature. It also has a reference library at national and European level for Germanic languages and civilisations and religious studies. The BNU is on the French list of libraries entitled to receive the legal deposit of printers for Alsace, and it has a first-rate regional collection and preserves heritage encompassing the entire history of books and writing (from papyrus to contemporary documents).

It offers a cultural season featuring exhibitions, encounters (conferences, round tables, musical readings, screenings and concerts) and tours of its heritage collections.

Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra

The Orchestra sets a high musical standard, offering more than 100 concerts a year. It has a vast repertoire ranging from the 18th century to the present day, for which it invites internationally renowned conductors and soloists, as well as a new generation of musicians it promotes with dedication. On the stage of the Érasme Hall at the Concert and Convention Centre, at the Opéra National du Rhin, in the auditorium of the Cité de la Musique et de la Danse, as well as throughout Alsace and internationally, the Orchestra offers a variety of performances, for every taste and every age!

TNS - National Theatre of Strasbourg

At the heart of the Neustadt, the only French national theatre outside of Paris, the TNS is a venue dedicated to theatrical creation, with the distinctive feature of being home to a National School of Dramatic Arts. The season offers about twenty shows, some of which are rehearsed and created in Strasbourg, and also features many free events: workshops with students from the School of Dramatic Arts, readings, encounters with the season’s artists, tours of the theatre and workshops (scenery, costumes), etc.

The Maillon - European Stage

The Maillon, with its two theatres with 700 and 250 seats, offers contemporary programming with a mixture of theatre, dance, music, circus arts, video, and more. The PréO

Cinema
